Food and nutrition
The sharing of food is an important part of our relational approach and the social life of the nursery. We also use it to reinforce children’s understanding of the importance of healthy choices.
We work closely with experts in nutrition to provide well-balanced and varied menus which take into account the dietary requirements of individual children. Fresh fruit and vegetables are sourced locally and delivered daily. Some vegetables are also grown on site in the village gardens.

All nursery menus have been further checked in consultation with Liverpool John Moore’s University and the Liverpool Women’s Hospital to ensure the balance of nutrition is age appropriate for all children.
The Nursery in Belong works in partnership with the Belong Village catering manager who plays an integral role in assuring quality menus and encouraging healthy eating routines. A vegetarian option is always available and special diets can be catered for.

We provide your child’s formula milk and will ask you to tell us what milk they have. We can also safely store and use your breast milk if required.
